Sweet

In England we refer to Candy as Sweets. "Please Mummy, can I please go to the Sweet Shop?"

The holidays always gets my sweet tooth salivating. I spend quite a bit of money stocking up on some of my favorite British sweets (as well as American. When it comes to sweets/candy, I do not discriminate). Some of the holiday necessities include: Box of Maltezers, Box of Roses Chocolates, Chocolate Eclairs, Lots of Flakes, Cadbury Milk Tray, Twiglets (okay not a sweet, but still a snack must have for all Holly Jolly Brits!), Quality Street Chocolates, .... okay, the list could go on and on (good job, I'm married to a dentist).

In keeping with the "Sweet" theme of this post I dug in the stash to see what would tie in nicely for a Thanksgiving Giveaway.

How about some Sundara Sock Yarn in Creamy Toffee?! This yarn is delicious, just like the name implies. I love knitting with this yarn. You will too!

Want some Creamy Toffee?

Just leave a comment with what your favorite holiday sweet is and what you'd like to make with this sweet yarn.

Get a second entry if you link this on your blog (just leave a second comment leaving the link to your blog).

Winner will be picked on Sunday at 8pm central time and posted on the blog.

In the meantime, have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Whether you live in the USA or elsewhere in the world, take time to pause and be grateful for all you have.

.

I'm grateful to the Cute Guy, wonderful kids, true friends, a strong faith .... many other things not forgetting sweets, yarn, and something to be passionate about like knitting.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love Ande's Mints at the holidays. Of course they're around all year long, but they just seem better at the holkidays. I'm never sure how yarn will be used (until it tells me), but my strongest inclination for this is a hat.

My favorite is pecan pie. Mmmm. But none for me tomorrow. Only apple. And pumpkin. I think I'll be okay.

Happy thanksgiving!

When it becomes to sweets, I can not say anything else than chocolate, dark dark chocolate. Or maybe mint-chocolate. Yumm!

And with this sweet Creamy toffee I think I'd make Eunice socks and some mittens, it just wants to be like that :)

That is very beautiful yarn...I envision it as a beautful lace cowl.

My favorite sweets are almost all sweets lol. I love homemade apple pie, chocolates with nuts in them, and I can't wait for the brown sugar shortbread cookies to come at Christmas time.

It is wonderful of you to share the yarn wealth with your giveaway :-)

Mmmmmm, love your Creamy Toffee! My favorite holiday sweet treat is my aunt's trifle. I love the way she makes it. She gave me the recipe but her's is ALWAYS better!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ah, the crunchy wonder of Turtles. If they are made at the candy shop from excellent quality non-waxy ingredients, they are fab-u-lous!

Creamy Toffee may be dreaming of becoming a Special Design....

This is very sweet of you and generous too. I like dark chocolate plain and simple. As for the wool, it would become a beautiful baktus scarf.

My favorite are the special Reese's holiday peanut butter eggs, trees, hearts, and pumpkins. If only they had turkeys. :-)

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I love candy canes. They're simple and traditional, yet I can never get enough of them!

And if I won the yarn I would probably make a cowl. :)

Happy Thanksgiving my friend!
I grew up with "sweets" too and one of my favorties are Smarties!! Remember those?

I can't think of a holiday at Aunt Hazel's house without thinking of a huge clump of ribbon candy stuck together in a cut glass bowl. I don't know that I'd want any today, but I really miss seeing it.

This yarn is going to blend perfectly with some of my handspun to make a wonderful scarf, which will be for me for a change. That's either called positive thinking or delusional thinking.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I make buttermint cookies. Basically a shortbread cookie where the flour is made from putting the buttermints through the food processor until they are the consistency of flour and combine with butter and some sugar.

I think Creamy Toffee would make a gorgeous Dane Shawl that I recently added to my Ravelry queue.

Oh my! November and December always are enjoyed for the sweets. One especially is speculaas, and kruidnootjes. In the US known as gingerbread and gingernuts. Especially of the gingernuts you can make many out of a simple dough. (a good recipe of it can be found in the Dutch food section of www.about.com)

What I'd make out of the yarn? Socks for one of my sons! They would love it!

I love chocolate gelt! You know, the coins wrapped in foil. When I was a kid, they also made bubble gum gelt, but the chocolate was always my favorite.

Being from England too (but living in TX) I'd have to say my fav sweets are just about all you mentioned. I loved getting selection boxes at this time of year but we can't get them over here!
I've never had Sundara yarn but if I won I'd have to find a sock pattern for sure. I've heard great things about this lovely yarn... love the color.

Choosing *one* favorite holiday sweet??? I think it'd have to be Petit Fours. My Granny used to give tins filled with Petit Fours to everyone in the family, so they remind me of her.

I think I would turn that delicious yarn into a pair of fingerless gloves or maybe a scarf (super short hair = cold neck in the winter!)

I'm CryPixie83 on Ravelry!

Happy Thanksgiving, Knittin Brit! That yummy sweet yarn would be perfect for a matching hat and fingerless gloves set. Mmmmmm.... how delicious would that be?

My favorite holiday sweet is homemade apple pie. I make everything from scratch with Pink Lady or Fuji apples. Delish!

With this yarn, I would probably make a shawlette. I love them so.

My hubbie and I just went to Fresh Market to get a bunch of holiday treats. We always have to get Walkers shortbread and their little mince tarts around the holidays!

I love any type of caramels, especially homemade ones:)

Saw this in the SYL forum at Ravelry. What a nice idea for a contest. My favorite holiday sweet is peppermint stick ice cream. What would I make with this sweet yarn...how about some Hederow Mitts to keep off the winter chill. Happy holidays.

Mmmm....Toffee!! My favorite holiday treat is gingerbread cookies, made from scratch, piped with my mom's icing. I know I'm home when I have those!! As for the yarn, probably a yummy, lacy cowl. Happy Holiday!

I love those cookies with the hershey kiss in the middle.. or snickerdoodles!

Creamy Toffee would be good in either a baktus, milkweed, or socks.

I love ribbon candy! It's probably pure high fructose corn syrup, but i love it!

Nothing beats a really great cup of hot cocoa with whipped cream for a holiday treat. (even more fun when ice skating)

I would make an ishbel in Creamy Toffee for a friend, as she would look great in this colorway and I have been trying to find just the right thing to make for her as a holiday gift.

I love Almond Roca--it's one of my favorite sweets, and it matches this lovely Sundara yarn!

I would make a vest or cardigan for my 2 yr old son with Creamy Toffee sock yarn--it would look so sweet with his fair complexion and blonde hair!!

My favorite holiday sweet is Peppermint Bark. I love peppermint, especially paired with chocolate.

With that delicious Sundara yarn, I think I'd make some Welted Fingerless Gloves for my friend TZ. TZ has helped me find fabulous, outrageous colors to paint the rooms in my home, and managed to ensure they all play well together. Ironically, TZ likes to wear neutrals. I just found out last night that she likes fingerless gloves. This would be a perfect match for someone who's helped me over a personal hurdle in color visualization.

Oddly enough, I really really love toffee. Creamy hard ones are great. Chocolate dipped with nuts sprinkled on top? Even better. Hand made? THE BEST. I love toffee, I really do. :D Second best is peppermint hot chocolate with lots of pfffft. :D

Hmmm, my favorite holiday sweet is Russian Teacakes--they're very buttery, nutty cookies rolled into balls and then rolled in powdered sugar, and they're a tradition in my family. I LOVE them, and I love making them for those I love every year.

I am thinking that gorgeous Creamy Toffee would make either an incredible Ishbel, or even more incredible Beaudelaire socks. Yum!!

Mmmmm...I love sugar cookies - esp. the kind with tiny sugar translucent sprinkles. I also love fudge. It's a toss up between the two. Yum! Finally an excuse to eat sweets!

My fave holiday sweet is the Peppermint Bark sold at Williams Sonoma each Christmas. No, I don't make candy or sweets at home.

I would like to make Tora Froseth's Lady Wannabe gloves with the gorgeous Creamy Toffee. Thank you for this opportunity!
